Lead Practitioner of Science

Required for September 2017

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Teacher of Science with a track record of outstanding outcomes in this key subject.  The successful candidate will be a dedicated and passionate teacher with the ability to develop and implement high quality teaching and learning strategies and to inspire both students and staff.

Our Lead Practitioners of Science are responsible for modelling and leading the improvement of teaching skills within the Science faculty. This particular role arises due to the impending retirement of one of our existing Lead Practitioners whose main focus is leading coaching, mentoring and professional development within the department.  The post holder will need to demonstrate evidence of excellent practice, outstanding outcomes and the ability to develop and coach others. This is a fabulous opportunity to further your career for those with a passion for developing teaching and learning.

The Science Department is due to undergo major refurbishment over the next 18 months including a full re-suite of labs with multi-purpose facilities and you would be joining a supportive, well-resourced department in an oversubscribed 11 – 16 Academy.   There is a strong emphasis on raising achievement in creative, innovative ways and a genuine commitment to collaboration and professional development. This is a school that believes in ‘growing great teachers’.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all members of staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointments are subject to enhanced DBS check and satisfactory employment references.

An application form can be downloaded from the website which should be completed and returned to recruitment@severnvaleschool.com, together with a letter of application which outlines why you would like to join the Science team at Severn Vale School and what you could contribute to the further development of the subject. The letter should be no more than two sides of A4.

Closing date for applications: 28 April 2017

Interview date:  Week commencing 8 May 2017
