Student Leadership

Student Leadership

Here at Severn Vale we are passionate about growing our young people and equipping them to exercise their voice and influence the world around them. Student voice is just one of the many ways we are doing this.

Year Councils

Each tutor group elects two representatives who then come together once a term with the representatives from all tutor groups in their year, to discuss issues raised by their peers.  These meetings are organised and chaired by our Student Leadership Team.

Student Leadership Team

At the end of Year 10, students are eligible to apply for a post on our Student Leadership Team.  They undergo a rigorous application and interview process, with the successful candidates being appointed to the team ready for Year 11.  These students are the senior leaders of the student body and take on the role, not just of being the voice for their peers, but also leading the school to create a culture of shared values and aspiration.

Alongside organising and chairing meetings for the year councils, student leaders attend meetings of the school's Senior Leadership Team and Governors, where they provide a voice for our students and have an opportunity to inform and influence decision-making at the highest level.

Student leaders also take part in a year-long leadership development program where they study the key principles of personal leadership to best equip them to be a leader worth following, not just now, but in the years to come.
