Term 5 Performance Platform

Term 5 has seen our fourth, final and definitely fantastic lunchtime platforms of the academic year.

All students who performed very much took the opportunity to share their best musical interests and talents to our audiences. The music department has enjoyed having a welcoming and appreciative audience every day over our last two weeks of May and it has been very apparent how much live music performances are valued by our students (as performers and as listeners) and staff too. A huge thank you to all students and staff that have got involved and joined us too.

Students from Year 7 - 11 were again involved in our 8 lunchtime platforms with our Rhythm Ensemble, a couple of student-led bands (a Year 7 and a Year 9 trio), various duets (Y8 and Y11 singers, a Y9 and 11 singers and guitarists) and the enthusiastic soloists we have every term. It is always great to hear our returning performers, however there has been a notable encouraging increase in students new to performing too. The Year 7 trio (Jasmine, Charlie and Joseph), Year 7 soloists (Lara), Year 8 soloists (Freya), Y9 (Evie on acoustic guitar) and some new Y11 duo partnerships (Olivia and Esmee) were brilliant to listen and watch in their full musical flow!

The range of music performed at our SVS platforms is always is vast and term 5 saw the typical range of grade exam pieces / songs students have recently working on, repertoire that students have been learning in their instrumental / vocal lessons or even working on in their own time, as well as students’ own current “firm favourites” too.

The music department would like to thank and congratulate all our performers throughout 2025-26 - it's been a rewarding and enjoyable year. Our final live performance opportunity for this academic year will now be our Summer showcase 2026 on Wednesday 8 July at 6pm in the main school hall. This will be open for sign-up on the very first day of term 6 (June 2026) and our auditions will be on Thursday 4 June immediately after school in the music department.
