Music Performance Platforms

Our third lunchtime platforms of the academic year and first of 2026 have been an exciting and immensely enjoyable experience for all our performers and their audiences.

Lots of students signed up to full capacity and all clearly practised and performed with enthusiasm and determination to showcase their musical skills. The fact these February platforms have brought out a lot of students new to performing has also been brilliant to see and hear - we hope they want to participate again and this very encouraging trend of all performance vacancies being taken up continues!

Students from Year 7 - 11 were involved over 8 lunchtimes with our Rhythm Ensemble, various duets (singers, singers and pianists, singers and guitarists) and the common predominance of soloists. Plenty of singers have been involved, several pianists (Megan in Y7, Mario in Y8, Aadilakshmi in Y9, Scarlett in Y10, Ben and Esmee in Y11) and guitarists (George in Y7, Harriet and Dexter in Y10, plus Aeveri in Y11), a guitarist with loop pedals (Eaden in Y9) and a couple of drummers too (Izaac in Y10 and Eaden Y9), once again proving we have lots of musical interests in our school community and loads of variety every single lunchtime.

The range of music performed has continued to be extremely broad, with choices ranging from grade pieces / songs students have recently working on, repertoire that students have been learning in their instrumental / vocal lessons or even working on in their own time, as well as students’ own current “firm favourites” too.

Songs from many current globally renowned and award-winning artists and bands have been showcased:  Adele, Arctic Monkeys, Billie Eilish, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Gigi Perez, Gracie Abrams, Lana del Ray, Laufey, Lisa, Max, Rihanna, Rosé, She and him, plus Sam Fender and Sam Smith. The world of musicals was also well represented with songs from "Miss Saigon", “Wicked”, "Pitch Perfect" and “Heathers”. Some blasts from the past were also featured too from Abba, Avril Lavigne, The Cardigans, Guns 'n' Roses and Mama Cass too.

2026 has started off very strong and the music department thank all our performers and send them all a huge well done too. Our next lunchtime platforms will be open for sign-up at the very beginning of term 5 (April to May 2026). Please keep an eye and ear out for all our announcements about this next open opportunity to perform as part of our always encouraging school music culture.
