This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards.
It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with the class of 2020; a finer group of young people it would be hard to find.
At Severn Vale we are proud of our inclusive credentials. This has ensured that students across the ability range have received comprehensive support to stretch and challenge their expectations in order to achieve their very best.
The secret to the success of the class of 2018? Good old fashioned hard work from the students combined with excellent teaching and high quality pastoral care from a team of talented teachers and support staff.
Overall 25% of grades awarded were A/A* grades and 28% of students achieved 3 or more A*-A grades.
Our focus now is to ensure that next year’s results are even better. We will continue to focus on excellent teaching and learning to ensure the best outcomes for all our students.
As ever there were some fantastic results from our highest attaining students with twins Alex and Rosie Wilkinson achieving the best results with 15A*s and 3As between them.
At Severn Vale we do still make use of targeted early entry to enable our students to achieve in key critical examinations.
Severn Vale is probably the most improved secondary school in Gloucestershire and the reasons for that are clear: skilful teaching, motivated students, an appropriate curriculum, dedicated teaching and support staff who go the extra mile, supportive parents and governors. Add in sheer hard graft from all concerned, and you have a recipe for success.
