Transition 2024

We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new students to Severn Vale School during the summer term of 2024.

To confirm some key dates:

Primary school visits - 10th June - 24th June 2024

We will be visiting all of the Year 6 students joining us in September throughout Term 6. Primary school visits will take place during the fortnight beginning Monday 10th June. I will attend the visits with Kelly Evans, Head of Year 7 and Beth Richards, Pastoral Mentor for Year 6/7 Transition.

During these visits we will meet with the students, give them an opportunity to ask questions and launch the 'Be Awesome, Go Big' transition project. The 'Be Awesome, Go Big' project was set up 4 years ago to support students with transition to secondary school, it provides lots of valuable insights and reflections for students making the transition.

Further details regarding the project will be included in future correspondence and all resources required will be available through our school website.

The first two days of the new academic year will be for Y7 pupils only (Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th September 2024)

Welcome to Severn Vale: Year 6 to 7 Transition Booklet

This booklet contains all the key information you need when starting at Severn Vale School. Students will receive a printed copy during the primary school visits in June, but it's here on the website for you as well! Please see the bottom of the page for all the different documents to do with the transition process.

Be Awesome Go Big Transition Project

The Be Awesome/Go Big Project is a Year 6/7 transition project which has been specifically designed to support students with the transition to secondary school. All students will receive a workbook, a copy of which can be found below. The project runs across 9 sessions, shown below, which you can follow at home via this link

  • Session 1: Being awesome
  • Session 2: Unlocking your mind
  • Session 3: Dare to take risks
  • Session 4: Making the change
  • Session 5: Lost but not lost
  • Session 6: Bouncebackability
  • Session 7: What is normal anyway?
  • Session 8: Friendships and fallouts
  • Session 9: Living well

It would be great if you complete your Be Awesome/Go Big Project Workbook over the summer and you can bring this with you when you arrive at Severn Vale.
